The 1st Annual GRAMMY Awards dinner ceremony was held on May 4th, 1959 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Attendance in the Grand Ballroom included The Everly Brothers, Perry Como, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
Hilton Istanbul, 1959
In April 1959, the legendary Louis Armstrong and his All Stars traveled to Istanbul, Turkey as part of a European tour that included a final performance by “Ambassador Satch” on April 12th in the Hilton Istanbul ballroom.

Beyond his legendary “Bed- In For Peace” honeymoon with Yoko Ono at the Hilton Amsterdam in 1969, the original hand-written lyrics to John Lennon’s 1971 number #1 hit single Imagine were penned on a piece of Hilton New York stationery.

Whether he was on location for a concert, film or vacation, Elvis Presley, “The King”, made the Ali’i Tower's Mahele Presidential Suite on the 14th floor of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort his home away from Graceland.

Michael Jackson, “The King of Pop” chose the exotic Hilton Hawaiian Village® and stayed in Elvis’ favorite suite during his final performance in the U.S. in 1997. The stop occurred upon Jackson’s trip home from his final tour through Europe and Asia.

One look across the drum shaped bar at the Drum Room and it was clear why the Hilton President Kansas City hotel in the 1930s and 40s was where anyone from Frank Sinatra, Count Basie or Patsie Cline came to be seen, and heard.
