Weekend Guide

Plan the perfect weekend at the Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences, located in the heart of Noumea with direct access to Anse Vata Beach and within walking distance from restaurants, entertainment and the conference center.

  • Tontouta International Airport is located 50kms from the capital city of Noumea.  Coaches, rental cars and taxis are available at the airport. Cost is approximately XPF 3000 per person one way for a coach transfer.  Check-in and make your way to La Terrasse for a Parisian breakfast.
  • After breakfast, make your way to Anse Vata Bay and catch the Noumea Explorer hop on, hop off bus which stops off at all main attractions on the hour. You will visit the famous Tjibaou Cultural Centre, various museums, Botanical Gardens and city centre.

  • Get dropped off at Lemon Bay (Baie des Citrons) and enjoy lunch at 'Les 3 Brasseurs'. This is typically a French brasserie style of restaurant with local beer brewed on site.  The restaurant overlooks the beach and is a great place to people watch - flammekuche is a speciality here.
  • Walk back to Anse Vata and take the taxi boat from the water activities centre to Duck Island, located 5 minutes from the beach. Discover the abundant underwater marine life or have a snorkel.
  • Make your way back to the hotel and wind down after a full day of exploring and enjoy a sunset cocktail from the private balcony of your apartment; overlooking the lagoon which is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

  • Noumea is a gourmet delight. There are over 100 restaurants offering a variety of cuisines to travellers, ranging from French to Asian fusion to Tahitian or sumptuous seafood buffets.  Our suggestion is Le Roof, a restaurant located over the water with views over the bay. If you’re lucky, the dolphins will come close to play.  This fine dining restaurant in Noumea offers specialty dishes using the best local produce.
  • After dinner, enjoy one of the many bars or nightclubs within walking distance from the hotel. Our suggestions are Poplight, MV Lounge or la Barca.

  • Catch bus #11 from the hotel, into the city markets which are brimming with local seafood, tropical fruits and vegetables, pastries, and souvenirs.  The market is the place to go to mingle amongst the locals and to experience a great coffee and croissant.
  • After the markets, take in the city museums - New Caledonia museum, WWII museum and maritime museum - all within walking distance of the city centre.
  • Walk back to Port Moselle and catch the boat to Escapade Island Resort. Enjoy a relaxing day on a tropical island.

  • Lunch is included in the price at Escapade Island. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet with entrees, abundance of seafood, hot dishes and delicious pastries.
  • After lunch, spend the afternoon by the pool or swimming in the 200 hectare marine reserve alongside the numerous varieties of fish or try your hand at kite surfing, jet skiing or diving.  Do as much or as little as you like.  Return transfer to Port Moselle is around 5:00pm.

  • Dine at Le Parc Restaurant overlooking the Anse Vata Beach, and experience al-fresco dining at its best.  Watch the petanque players at sunset, enjoy a cocktail at the bar whilst watching the numerous families on the Promenade and enjoy a three-course dinner concocted by Jean-Pierre, chef of Le Parc.
