The affluent coastal city of Del Mar consists of less than 2 square miles, but is host to some of Southern California's largest events including KAABOO Del Mar Music Festival and 2017 Breeders' Cup. Bing Crosby famously nicknamed this summer playground 'where the turf meets the surf', and its elegant old Hollywood heritage set against the backdrop of one of California's most pristine beaches makes Del Mar a truly remarkable destination. European-style villas line Del Mar Village, providing an abundance of dining options with breathtaking views, it is no wonder world-class events are drawn to this tiny city.
Beaches: Seagrove and the adjacent Powerhouse Park near downtown Del Mar are idyllic spots to spend an afternoon with friends and family. Sprawling green lawns with picnic benches and swing sets give way to sandy beaches. Known for its beautiful landscapes, the parks are highly sought after for luxury beach weddings. Surf breaks in this area are considered some of San Diego's best, and you'll be sure to spot surfers and boogie boarders year round. While leashed dogs are welcome at these two popular beach spots, bring your furry loved ones to Del Mar Dog Beach (just north of 29th) to run off-leash for a two mile stretch from Labor Day to June 15.
