Opening
Hilton Amsterdam was the first international hotel to open in the Netherlands. Opened by Mr. Conrad Hilton himself in 1962, the hotel has been a monumental part of the neighbourhood ever since. The distinctive V-shape of the hotel is cantered on the axis of the Apollolaan and Minervalaan, the two main roads of the south area of Amsterdam.

Berlage's Plan Zuid
Considered the Father of modern architecture prominent Dutch architect Berlage designed Plan Zuid, a district on which baseline Hilton Amsterdam is famously built. The axis of the two main roads of Plan Zuid runs through the hotel lobby as a fascinating focal and talking point.

John & Yoko
On March 24 1969, a white Rolls Royce pulled up in front of the hotel. John Lennon and Yoko Ono stepped out. They booked suite 702 and shortly afterwards all furniture, except for the bed, was removed. This marked the start of the famous "Bed-in" for peace, where they spent a week in bed to protest against the Vietnam war.

John & Yoko Suite
Today, the John & Yoko suite is one of the most famous bridal suites in the world. It has been recreated as it was, but with a few concessions to the more luxurious environment expected by today's guests. The style of decoration was approved and advised by Yoko Ono herself, and all materials used are natural, symbolizing purity.
