Weekend Guide

Plan the perfect weekend at the Hilton Sydney hotel, centrally located in the heart of the city across from Sydney's famous Queen Victoria Building and only a short walk from Darling Harbour.

  • Sydney airport lays approximately 25-30 mins from the CBD, in which a taxi ride will cost you around $50. After checking in, indulge yourself in a spectacular buffet breakfast at glass brassiere to prepare for your first day exploring Sydney’s wonderful sights.
  • Circular Quay is located approximately a 15 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride from the hotel. Be awestruck by the breathtaking views of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Tours of the Opera House run every 30 minutes and take approximately 1 hour. This tour will give you an educational journey of this historic landmark and the elegant architecture of the great Jan Utzen.
  • After the tour, you may want to enjoy the beauty of the Royal Botanical Gardens and the prime photographic opportunities of Mrs Macquarie’s chair. This location is named after Australia’s first Governor’s Wife. Mrs Macquarie would often sit at this location to welcome the ships back into Sydney harbour. This vantage point will allow you to take photographs of the city skyline with the inclusion of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

  • Making your way back to Circular Quay, you may wish to sample some of Sydney’s finest seafood produce at the Sydney Cove Oyster Bar. Positioned right on the water’s edge, you will find the oyster bar an excellent place to fill your stomach and rest your legs from a morning of walking. Relax and enjoy a nice glass of Thomas ‘OC’ Semillon from the Hunter Valley and watch the boats and ferries sail around the harbour
  • Just a short walk from the Sydney Cove Oyster bar, you will find yourself at Wharf 6 in Circular Quay to take the always popular Captain Cook Cruise, Harbour Highlights tour. This 1 hour tour will provide you with a relaxed atmosphere and showcase beautiful panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour and surrounds.
  • After disembarking from the vessel, it is just a short walk to the famous and historic Rocks precinct – the birthplace of Sydney. After wandering through the cobblestone alleyways and market areas, you may find yourself in dire need of a refreshing beverage. A few of the oldest pubs in Australia are located in this area, so head to Lord Nelson, Fortune of War or Hero of Waterloo for a well earned beer or two.

  • A brief stroll back to Circular Quay, you will reach celebrity chef, Matt Moran’s Aria Restaurant, located at No.1 Macquarie St. This particular establishment combines wonderful views with a formal, elegant dining experience. A must try dish would definitely be either the Moran’s Family lamb or Cured Wagyu beef.
  • After enjoying a superbly cooked dinner, take a short taxi ride back to the Hilton and enjoy a nightcap, coffee or tea in the glass Wine Bar before heading back to your room.

  • After a good night’s sleep in one of our modern styled rooms, make your way across to Hyde Park, taking in views of the grand St Marys Cathedral where you can catch the 378 bus to Bronte, located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. This trip will allow you to discover the inner city localities of Paddington and Woollahra. Upon reaching the Bronte, enjoy a seasonal breakfast menu with tasty treats to delight the tastebuds at the Three Blue Ducks, located on Macpherson St.
  • Work off those calories with a scenic 45 min walk back towards Bondi Beach along the coastal headland. Upon reaching Bondi you will be greeted with Australians most famous beach where you might choose to swim between the flags, take a surfing lesson or simply work on your tan.

  • Take a short taxi ride to Rose Bay (10-15mins). Prior to lunch, you may decide to begin with a seaplane ride or if hunger calls, head straight to Catalina Restaurant. On the award-winning menu you will find a mix of seafood and top quality meats from the grill to satisfy your senses.
  • From Rose Bay, you can take a short ferry ride back to Circular Quay for your afternoon Bridge Climb experience. This entails a 3 hour climb across the iconic “Coathanger”. Once reaching the summit of the bridge, you will experience awe-inspiring 360 degree views, from Parramatta in the west, across to Manly in the north. The bridge climb can be booked through the hotel Concierge and varies in price depending on the time of year.

  • Take a short stroll or taxi ride from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour to find an array of bars, restaurants and the Star Casino. BLACK by Ezard, located on the terrace of the Star Casino, is excellent for its ‘off the grill’ style. Enjoy the most stunning views of the harbour and the city whilst perusing the seasonal menu.
  • If you still find that you have the energy and you’re looking to party the night away, you may look to George Street for the Establishment or move on to the red light district Kings cross’s Hugo’s bar for your night time entertainment.
